I have been a clinical psychologist in private practice for over forty years. During that time, I have studied a large number of different therapeutic approaches and techniques for working with the issues that patients bring to treatment. I have also served as teacher, supervisor and training analyst for other therapists. Through continued learning and self-examination, I have come to be comfortable working with people on a wide range of individual and interpersonal issues.
My special interest is in choosing approaches that are likely to help a person or couple improve their lives. However, it is never clear how they can resolve an issue until they have examined it carefully and thoroughly. Examination is a process that we engage in together, and at various points along the way, we may decide that you should try to make one or more changes.
Changes are best thought of as experiments that you can do when you are ready. If a particular change in thinking or behavior is effective, we move on. If not, it may still help us decide about what to do next.
The sections of this site tell you more about my training, resources and philosophy of treatment. However, for us to work well together, you will need to feel comfortable with me. For that, the best way to find out is by coming one time and noticing your reactions. If you are comfortable, and it seems that I can be helpful, we can continue.
